Looping QT movies in container

Postby stam66 » Thu Sep 20, 2007 4:28 pm

Hi,

I'm moderately desperate to get quicktime movies looping within a container without resorting to a script looping to "enter" the field a set number of times, as this freezes other controls in FMP and causes funny artefacts around the movie. Bizarrely, there seems to be no native way to do this... (i have several hundred loops 0.5 - 1 sec duration which are meant to loop indefinitely...)

Not sure if your plugin does this as i didn't see it while glancing your documentation - please let me know if i'm wrong. If not - could this ever be considered in the future?
I would definitely register this plugin just to do that!

Regards,
S.

Hi,
I'm not sure what the problem is here, but we can talk about some quicktime extensions in the future.

Hello,

What about using the Web Viewer to display the quicktime movie? I think you can control a quicktime movie in a web page with JavaScript. IF so then you can use the WebView Component to control the movie with JavaScript.

editing my own post here....After looking at this page here

http://developer.apple.com/documentation/QuickTime/Conceptual/QTScripting_JavaScript/bQTScripting_JavaScri_Document/chapter_1000_section_5.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001526-CH001-DontLinkElementID_7

It seem pretty clear that you could use Javascript to control Quicktime movies in a web viewer.

Is there any reason why you can't use the Web Viewer?

Yup turned out to be pretty easy. I have this working on the mac, the pc shouldn't be a problem. I just have one issue there. I asked morgan to check on it for me. We should have it resolved tomorrow and I will post the file.

Thanks

OK so here it is

QuickTimeControl.zip
QuickTime Movie Control
(6.09 MiB) Downloaded 100 times

Simple proof of concept. Start and stop quick time movies from within filemaker.

You will need to have quicktime installed on a PC.
